Bathtub ReFinishing : FAQs

Q: How Long Will A Refinished Surface Last?

A: Through typical use and good care and cleaning, a refinished surface should last Between 5 to 15 years or even more. And remember that Pro Gloss Bathtub ReFinishing gives you a FREE 1-year warranty with all fully refinished surfaces, along with a Maintenance Sheet to guide you on how to best clean and care for your newly refinished surface.

Q: How Long Does the ReGlazing Process Take to Complete?

A: Most ReGlazing projects can be completed the same day, depending on the size or number of items to be refinished.

A Single Bathtub can usually be completed within 3 to 4 hours.

One more reason to refinish instead of replacing!

Is My Old Porcelain Bathtub Dangerous to My Child?

If your home was built prior to 1978, it may very well contain lead paint, including in your bathtub. The glaze used back then to coat the bathtubs, as well as most interior and exterior paints, mostly contained lead. In 1978 the U.S. government commenced serious regulations to regulate the lead paint problem.

Lead is unsafe in any amount, particularly to children ages 6 and under because they absorb it much quicker and the effects the lead are far more severe. Exposure can damage the brain and nervous system, cause behavior and learning disabilities, stunted growth, hearing loss, headaches and even death. Adults can also suffer from lead poisoning, causing reproductive problems, high blood pressure, hypertension, nerve disorders, memory loss, and muscle and joint pain.

In 1995, a Good Morning America report exposed how so many bathtubs were still testing positive for lead. One of the ways you can abate the lead is through encapsulation. In other words, ReGlazing to prevents the previous lead from leeching through.
